পাঁচশ’ বছরের পুরনো ঐতিহাসিক হাজীগঞ্জ কেল্লা রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের অভাবে ঐতিহ্য হারাচ্ছে।
শীতলক্ষ্যা নদীর পশ্চিম তীরে নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলা শহরের কিল্লারপুলে অবস্থিত ঐতিহাসিক হাজীগঞ্জ দুর্গ। ঈসা খাঁর কেল্লা হিসেবেও অনেকের কাছে এটি পরিচিত।
আবার এটি খিজিরপুর দুর্গ নামেও পরিচিত। বাংলার সম্পদ লুট করতে সুলতানি আমল থেকেই চট্টগ্রামের সমুদ্রতীর থেকে ছিপ নৌকা নিয়ে মগ ও পর্তুগিজ জলদস্যুরা আক্রমণ করত। এদের আক্রমণ প্রতিহত করতে তিনটি জলদুর্গ তৈরি করা হয়। এই তিনটি জলদুর্গের একটি হচ্ছে হাজীগঞ্জ দুর্গ। সম্ভবত সুবেদার ইসলাম খানের সঙ্গে সংঘর্ষের কারণে ঈশা খাঁ এ দুর্গ নির্মাণ করেছিলেন। নদীপথে মগ ও পর্তুগিজ জলদস্যুদের কবল থেকে এ জনপদকে রক্ষা করার জন্য কেল্লাটি তৈরি করা হয়।
প্রায় ৫০০ বছরের পুরনো ঐতিহাসিক হাজীগঞ্জ কেল্লা। অধিকাংশ মানুষের মতে এটি ১৬৫০ সালের দিকে নির্মিত হয়েছিল।
(The 500-year-old historical Hajiganj fort is losing its heritage due to lack of maintenance.
The historic Hajiganj fort is located at Killarpool in Narayanganj district town on the west bank of the Shitalakshya river. It is also known to many as the fort of Isa Khan.
It is also known as Khizirpur Fort. From the Sultanate period, Mugh and Portuguese pirates used to attack from the sea of Chittagong with rowing boats to plunder the resources of Bengal. Three water forts were built to repel their attack. Hajiganj fort is one of these three forts. Probably due to a clash with Subedar Islam Khan, Isha Khan built this fort. The fort was built to protect the town from the clutches of Mughals and Portuguese pirates by river.
Hajiganj fort is about 500 years old. According to most people, it was built around 1650.
