2001 - Indian forces attacked a Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) outpost with a battalion of BSF and NSG specialists. Officially 16 Indian troops were killed, two captured alive against a Bangladeshi position manned by only a dozen armed BDR paramilitary. Its regarded as India's biggest peace time loss during any border clash with Bangladesh. (Photo 1 & 2)
In 2019 Indian Air Force launched an attack on Pakistan but ended up losing a MiG-21, that included 1 fighter pilot being captured by Pakistani forces. (Photo 3)
One year later in 2020 over 20 Indian Army troops were killed, 30+ captured, 76 injured when they crossed the LAC and attacked the Chinese position. (Photo 4)
These episodes remind us each time about the fact that over confidence is not good.
